The appearance is a milky viscous suspension. As a suspension it is not homogeneous, the enzyme will appear to settle out if left sitting. So the customer should be sure to invert several times before sampling. Papain is viscous when refrigerated. You can warm the bottle in your hands (room temperature) to make it easier to handle, invert several times to ensure homogeneity before sampling. Papain is not sterile, it should be 0.22. micron filtered after dilution.
