Latexin acts as a non-competitive, reversible inhibitor for metallocarboxypeptidases (MCPs), including CPA1, CPA2 and CPA4. It is a cytoplasmic protein that is highly expressed in heart, prostate, pancreas, ovary, kidney, brain and colon.
